The LA Times says “visit us”!

In case you didn’t know, there are multiple French’s bakeries. But there is only one French’s Cupcake Bakery! It’s a pretty big difference, as pointed out by the LA Times:

“There are two French’s bakeries in Costa Mesa, under different owners, so be sure to go to the French’s on 17th street if you want to grab a “Hawaiian bran muffin.” Moist and full of texture, it’s crammed with chunks of pineapple, covered with walnut halves, sweetened with molasses and honey and flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and a few other spices. The chewy, nutty texture comes not only from the walnuts but from the combination of whole grain and bran flours. Not a bad way to start the day. (Hawaiian bran muffin, 70 cents.) French’s Bakery, 273 E. 17th St., Costa Mesa. (949) 642-0571″

OC Weekly’s Best Cupcake in OC!

In 2009, OC Weekly gave us the coveted “BEST CUPCAKE IN OC” award in their annual Best Of! We’re honored. The write up is below.

“Dreaming of a chocolatey wonder wrapped around a whole, tart raspberry and topped with sinfully rich ganache? How about the perfect blend of mocha, chocolate and chocolate chips, with a dollop of fresh whipped cream, a dusting of cocoa powder and the energy boost that can only come from a chocolate-covered coffee bean? French’s Cupcake Bakery feeds your fetish with its Cupcake Fantasies line of gourmet delectables: sweet and moist, with just the right amount of frosting, all for between $2 and $2.50. Ignore the guilt pangs and indulge in a hand-held fantasy.”

Is the top tier included in the serving count?

Yes, the top tier is counted in the amount of servings. The top tier was traditionally saved and served on the 1st anniversary, but this tradition is rarely observed today. It is however, still an option and we will gladly provide a box and plastic bag for safe freezing.

How much does the average wedding cake cost?

Our wedding cakes are priced by the serving (please call the bakery and speak to our wedding cake coordinator for cake information and quotes.) The price per serving includes your choice of numerous cake flavors, fillings, designs and decorations. Check out our wedding cake sizes and servings guide.
